In Alabama six railroad bridges in the mining district were destroyed by fire and dynamite within six hours. The Kan sas City Memphis and Birmingham line near Carbon Hill saw a bridge blown up just after the Memphis express passed. A second bridge ends burned on the same road three miles west, and a bridge on the Galloway mines branch burned as watchmen halted the flames. Authorities accuse striking miners of the incidents.
An explosion at 3 p.m. targeted the Cleveland Canton and Southern railway bridge over the Tuscarawas river at Navarre. Fire followed but was extinguished. authorities believe the bridge is seriously damaged and that striking workers hoped to halt coal traffic from Southern Ohio by the act.
