Pittsburg reports hint at new tactics in the miners strike with leaders secretive about plans. Railway unions pledge support after a meeting in which members contributed $2 to the strike fund. Coke region mobilization aims to gather workers at mines delivering to Pittsburg.
225 miners at Willows Grove refuse to work in sympathy with Monongah action. Drivers halt haulage and remaining workers come out. About 60 at Pritchard also walk off after hearing Monongah news. Operators surprised as excitement runs high.
The balloon Eagle piloted by Herr Andree rose to about 600 feet after a favorable start on Sunday afternoon. Winds were light yet the craft dipped toward the sea briefly before shedding sand bags and climbing again. Observers reported the Eagle staying aloft for an hour traveling northeast at roughly 22 miles per hour.
