Reverend Watson Weed Dies in Vermont Home
Rev Watson Weed a Beadle County elder and early superintendent of schools in the 1880s died of heart disease last week at his Vermont home. He was born in 1847 in Galena New York and had served as Unitarian pastor in Duxbury Massachusetts before moving to Tunbridge and Royalton area farming. Burial was in South Royalton with Masonic rites by Rising Sun Lodge No 7. He left a wife and two daughters.

Five Miners Die In Blowup At Iowa Coal Mine
Five coal miners were killed in a dynamite explosion at the West Riverside coal mine two miles west of Des Moines Iowa. Twenty five pounds of dynamite stored in the powder house exploded after a lightning bolt struck the building. Victims' arms and legs were scattered up to five hundred feet from the blast.
