St Paul Nov 4 The Minnesota House was sworn in by Judge Colling and elected W E Lee speaker with 68 votes. Senate chose officers with Ed H Folsom secretary and adjourned at 1 30. Joint session to receive Governor Merriam's message and Nelson's inauguration planned for morning.
Pierre January 4 The legislature convened at noon with key debates on resubmitting the prohibition section to voters and altering legal residence time for divorce from ninety days to one year The move faces mixed support as lawyers oppose the divorce residence change and the Sioux Falls divorce colony faces a push from diverse Christian groups The Senate stands in a tie with possible passage in the lower house indicating a volatile session ahead

It notes 1.4 million invested in mills, 356,000 paid to 1,000 workers, average daily wages 2.27, and 15,000 farm laborers costing about 3.5 million. Wheat yield 58.8 million bushels in 1891, estimated 35.8 million in 1892. Insurance premiums totaled 67,464.15 with losses 86,165.01. life and other policies carried 5.714 million in coverage, premiums 261,218.

Mrs Martha J Lamb editor of THY Magazine of American History died in her Coleman House apartment from pneumonia after a brief illness. Born August 13 1829 in Plainfield Massachusetts she was daughter of Irvin Nash and Lycinda Vinton and known for advanced literary work and public life.
A westbound Northern Pacific passenger train derailed a mile below Buckley and plunged forty feet down a embankment near Cascade Junction. The engine and mail cars caught fire but no fatalities occurred. The engineer and fireman jumped clear. the express man escaped from the wrecked car unhurt. The mail pouch and a portion of the train were saved after reaching the bottom.
The December coinage of the United States mints reached 9,482,920 pieces totaling $4,468,484.90. Gold output was 200,616 coins valued at $2,845,185. silver accounted for 3,269,000 coins totaling $1,543,178.90. minor coins 5,762,700 with $98,521. Include d 896,000 souvenir half dollars valued at $448,000.
