Three assistants join, with offices in Aberdeen Watertown and Sioux Falls. Location choice favored Sioux Falls. Huron gains regional office. The move boosts Huron trade in harvesting machines and supports an expected upswing in crops and business.

Police report a brutal six victim massacre on Rev. Thomas Spicer's ranch near Winona North Dakota. Victims include Mr and Mrs Spicer their daughter Mrs William House her year old twins and Mrs Waldron mother of the postmaster. Indians suspected after a man seen nearby and axes or clubs used in the slaughter. Tension grows as Standing Rock reservation lies nearby and whisky fueled trouble looms.
Benny Cole died after a first round boxing bout with William Wright at the Manhattan Athletic Club in Cincinnati. The inexperienced youths clashed, Wright drove Cole against the ropes, and a right hand blow left Cole limp and dead two hours later. Police arrested Wright and several officials and others are being sought.
North Dakota House approves a stringent railroad regulation bill, largely mirroring Iowa law with changes. The measure, endorsed unanimously by the house railroad committee, moves to Senate where a concurrent resolution requires railroad property to be assessed at no less than five thousand dollars per mile.
A Chicago to Denver special, chartered by Henry J. Mayham, completed 1,026 miles in 18 hours 52 minutes arriving in Denver at 8:52 a.m. This marks the greatest railroad distance record, surpassing the prior 954 miles in 19 hours 57 minutes from New York to Chicago.
In Harrisburg Pennsylvania the house adopted a Cuban resolution urging Pennsylvania's federal lawmakers to pursue any proper means to speed the end of the conflict. It recalls past aid in independence struggles and asks aid for Cuba’s right to government for and by its people within the bounds of international law.
The steamship Bermuda, famed for Cuban filibustering, left Delaware breakwater for the Bermudas after affidavits by Captain Murray and John D. Hart promised neutrality compliance. Reports say Cuban insurgent chief General Roloff, with bail forfeited in Baltimore, is a passenger.
Major General John C. Robinson died in Bixnchampton New York this afternoon at age eighty He served as a major in the regular army when the war began and was ordered to Ohio to muster in the regiments of that state His death marks the loss of a long serving officer with ties to early war mobilization.
