Cashier Robbed at Chicago Gambling House Pistol Threats Used

Four men held Morgan and Sherin's cashier on Quincy Street at 4 a.m. and took $4,000 after two guards blocked the front. Cashier Koetting Case In Milwaukee Court

In Milwaukee on December 20 a public session of the South Side bank wreck case of cashier Koetting was held in municipal court. Circuit Judge Clementson of Grant county presided as Judge Walker had called him to the case. The defense argued the judge should not preside and objected to Judge Walker’s authority, asserting prejudice and improper substitution.

Bankers Indicted in Santa Ana Embezzlement Case

P James former Anaheim bank president is arrested on two grand jury indictments for embezzlement and perjury. Cashier H V Herr also arrested on perjury indictments. Perjury charged for sworn statements to bank commissioners. Bail was given.

Robbery Ring Strikes Two Alliance Homes

Six masked men broke into William Thomas's house in Alliance Ohio, bound him his wife and son, and escaped with 175 dollars. A second burglary at W D Williams house followed with a robber pointing a revolver at Williams while others ransacked the home taking 300 dollars and valuable papers.

San Francisco report says Chris Hanson formerly postmaster at Poplar Ia was arrested here by Postoffice authorities on December 20 for alleged misconduct related to mail handling and duties.

Brule hunter narrowly escapes wolves pursuit

In Brule Wisconsin on December 20 a hunter named Shorty Eastland was chased by at least twenty gray timber wolves in nearby woods. He fired at and killed two wolves during the escape.

The Beaver Falls Methodist parsonage burned completely when a gasoline stove exploded in the kitchen. A lantern toppled beside the stove and caught flame. The hired girl escaped through a window and raised the alarm.

Special Agent Dixon of Illinois is enrolling the Winnebago Indians in Wisconsin. The tribe in this state numbers about 1,300, with most living in the county. Annuity per capita is about $19, providing a substantial sum for heads of large families.
