Bradstreets notes a generally dull wholesale market as merchants cut year end stocks ahead of inventories. Retail holiday demand has risen in some areas though overall trade remains below expectations, with regional strength in the Central Mississippi valley and 38,38 U.S. failures this week versus 34,9 last year and 54 in Canada versus 40.
The Duluth lumber trade shows rising demand with Mitchell & McClure and B. B. Richards Lumber Co selling 7,000,000 feet to St. Paul parties. The shipments will be railbound this winter, most to the buyers’ St. Paul yards.
In TeXarkana Arkansas on December 16 a major lumber meeting across Missouri Arkansas Texas and Louisiana decided to cut production by one third. Mills will operate four days a week reducing output by about 1.5 billion feet annually from a 5 million feet per day capacity.

Henry Ames of Litchfield is president, A P McKinstry of Winnebago City first vice president, E D Childs of Crookston second vice president, T L Haecker of St. Anthony Park secretary, and George T Short of Faribault treasurer. Washington December 16 The Republican senate caucus committee after a long session expressed the opinion they would be able to report the Republican membership of the senate committees to the Republican caucus on Monday.
The Dominion government carried North Ontario riding with 1479 votes for Mc Gillivray and 996 for Brandon and 820 for the Labor candidate. The government cites large plurality and expects dissolution of Parliament for a general election early next year.
A World s Portland Maine dispatch says the United States revenue cutter Woodbury, after leaving Rockland December 3 to patrol the coast, has not been heard from. Widespread fears say she was blown out to sea or disabled in the recent storm, with wreckage or fate unknown.
Cincinnati datelined report says former U S Representative H B Bundy died at his Wellston residence at 1 p m after kidney illness and a recent surgical operation. Ex Governor Foraker and his wife were among mourners. Bundy 70.
