A Salt Lake City letter carrier Aaron H. Post sued the government under the 8 hour law for overtime. The United States supreme court affirmed the finding in his favor. The decision opens the way for similar suits for a very large aggregate sum.
Washington December 3 by order of Assistant Postmaster General Heath overtime beyond eight hours a day is punishable by dismissal. The ruling follows a Supreme Court decision upholding A H Post of Salt Lake City in a claim for overtime under the eight hour law of 18 S.
Davenport Iowa December 3 The second trial of Mrs Christine Behrens for the July murder of her husband Claus Behrens by Paris green to collect life insurance and wed Henry Bennet of Rock Island Illinois ended with a verdict of murder in the first degree. The jury deliberated 26 hours and fixed a life sentence at hard labor. Bennet remains jailed under an indictment for murder and will be tried this term.
Washington reports detail Germany’s four claims to Hayti including a 20000 dollar indemnity for Emil Lueders, free return to Haiti, an apology to Germany, and the Haitian president’s reception of the German charge d affaires at Port au Prince.
