Special to the Heronare from Yanxton August 17. Yanxton reports Yanxton County goes overwhelmingly for A. L. Van Osdel to head the Republican state ticket. Mayor J. B. Wynn is endorsed for senator.
Lawrence county held its convention nominating F. J. Washa baugh and O. S. Parsons for state senators and W. S. O'Brien W. H. Parker James Carney Robert Graham John Weezmuth and James Anderson for the lower house. Delegates were chosen for Huron and instructed for Moody for senator and Corson for supreme judge.
Aug 17. Delegates chosen in Hand and Hutchinson counties favor Mellette Pettigrew McCoy and Gifford. They are anti prohibitionists. Names listed include Jacob Sennardt John Schamber M K Bowen J E Hipple Henry Heil F D Simmons Frank Back A Eisinger F Schamber ULC Guenthner Frank Bem Sr Lawrence and others. Also G R Maron J F C B D Milam W H Line and W R Crisfield among Hand county selections.
The Satem republican convention elected delegates O. C. Potter F. E. Smith B. D. L. Dudley L Larson E L Abel W T Pierce and E H Wilson to the Huron convention. The legations favor Gifford Pickler with at least half the delegation. Resolutions endorsed constitutional prohibition.
Assistant Secretary Bussey ruled that a dishonorable discharge cannot bar a pension claim for disability. The decision overrules Hawkins and aligns with Judge Holt era policy, holding forfeiture of a pension for a prior offense would amount to double punishment.
