Major J. L. Rathbone former consul general to Paris has received a $100,000 check for his copper mine in Tepesal Agua Calientes Mexico. The mine was bought by L Gou ghenheim & Sons who run the Mon terey silver and lead smelting works at Monterrey and Pueblo, Colorado.

Henry McCloskey a mine owner shot and killed Fred Bagley and seriously wounded John Gagnon near Butte Montana after a quarrel over a debt. The men were riding in a wagon when the shooting occurred. McCloskey was arrested. he has long been regarded as a peaceable citizen.
An unknown assailant fired six shots through a window at John Burga’s residence seven miles south of Baraboo Wisconsin. Mrs. Burga was wounded in the side and likely will not recover. No motive or suspect is known and no clues exist.
