Jail Birds Escape from County Jail
Manisox April 19 four prisoners escaped from the county jail at about 9 pm after overpowering a turn key and seizing the door key. The group included Charles Schenck alias Harry Price and two others described by offenses and appearances. A sister in law assisted Arnold by hiring a two seated cart for an escape route and was arrested later.

A major blaze along the east bank of the North River swept from Fifty-ninth to near Sixty-fifth Street in New York City.
