Larissa April 14 The invaders blockade Baltino as Turkish reinforcements move from Dis kata. Insurgents hold strong positions near the mountains after dynamiting a Turkish post opposite Phoenika and Perihangia. Turkish forces man remains under arms. smallpox outbreaks cause many Turkish deaths at Damasi.
In Constantinople on April 14 the Turkish government told foreign diplomats that Edhem Pasha planned to move on Larissa in response to the Greek invasion of Macedonia, but orders to advance may have been countermanded and no troops had started. Turkey aims to seize Larissa to pressure Greek evacuation of Crete, with Krania in Greek hands threatening Edhem Pasha’s line to Sanina.
A Trikhala dispatch reports the Turkish garrison at Baltino about 800 men broke through Greek forces with 30 Turkish deaths after stubborn fighting. The insurgents seized Krania and pushed toward Cipria near Grevena, with three chiefs killed and four men wounded. A Greek private and a peasant delivering dispatches to Calcolivra were killed by Turkish frontier troops.
A Turkish staff officer sent by Edhem Pasha reports that Greek regulars were definitively involved in the invasion and that Greek regular army officers possibly commanded the operation.
Dispatch reports fighting at Baltino lasting Saturday with Turkish forces said to have surrendered late that afternoon. Casualties on both sides were under 100, and there is no new information on Turkish prisoners.

Urpana Ohio April 14 Z T Lewis known for forgery appeared in court for arraignment on 40 indictments. He hobbled into the courtroom appearing frail. Bail set at 1000 dollars in each case and he was remanded to jail.
Fairmont Minnesota April 14 Judge Quinn has sentenced Kellihan the Sherburne bank robber to be hanged in four months. His attorney pleaded for mercy but failed. A mercy petition addressed to the judge has been largely signed.
Oshkosh fishermen surrender $93,000 in claims for nets destroyed under an illegal fish law and agree to accept $29,000 in settlement. A bill to approve the settlement is expected to pass the legislature this week.
In Little Rock on April 14 a local glove contest ended fatally when a youth named Harrison suffered a broken neck from a blow by Tobin in the first round. Death was instantaneous.
Washington April 14 The president announces Senator Edward O Wolcott of Colorado Hon Charles J Paine of Boston and Ex Vice President Adlai E Stevenson named as commissioners to an international monetary conference The commission operates without senate confirmation and will likely meet after May 1 with Wolcott possibly serving as president and Paine accompanying Wolcott on the European tour last summer.
Washington April 14 The new executive committee of the National Association of Democratic Clubs held its first meeting with large attendance. Officers reported a healthy state of affairs with 15 000 clubs active during the campaign 9000 formed then and fading after the election about 6000 clubs still in existence.
