At Union Park the crowd mobbed Umpire Gibbs after a disputed call in a 6 to 4 Clarksburg win. Deputy Sheriff Jack Knox intervened as Gibbs, escorted by Charleroi players, escaped the mob. The game featured a turbulent wrangle over a fifth inning call and several player moves before Clarksburg held on for victory.
