Washington May 25 The United States Bureau of Mines issues an order to owners and operators of coal mines on leased Indian lands in Oklahoma. From August 1 1914 only permissible explosives meeting Bureau safety standards may be used while miners are at work. Ordinary black powder may be used only when all men are out and exploded from outside via a firing system. If in force in West Virginia many disasters might have been prevented. Government experts urge universal use of permissible explosives, with state police powers overseeing regulation.
