Skeleton Unearths Mystery At Adamston School Site

A human skeleton was found buried at the Skinner lot in Adamston while excavating for a new school house. Spectators and officials uncovered bones, coffin fragments, and buttons. the body measured about five feet ten inches and lay east to west. Local memory recalls no Civil War burial, and detectives await further investigation as theories of a Revolutionary era origin circulate.

Esler Becomes Team Manager For Clarksburg

Two top ConnsMsvile West Penn players were purchased from manager Malerkey by Lucius Hoge of Clarksburg. EB Esler, field captain and assistant manager, and Shortstop McGinley, formerly with Charleroi in the P. M. league, will report for work tomorrow with Latrobe. Hassler will manage Clarksburg and play left field. The moves aim to strengthen the club and ready it for upcoming games.

Lunatics Taken to Weston Asylum

Clarence McCarty and Hiram Dawson were moved from the county jail to the Weston asylum Friday evening. They had been adjudged lunatics several days earlier due to alcoholism. Both are reported to be greatly improved and may soon be released. McCarty lives in Lumberport and Dawson near Smithfield.

Did Not Pay Fine Leads Cottrill to Jail

Newton Cottrill serves ten days in county jail for neglecting to pay a 35 fine and costs imposed two weeks earlier for assaulting T. J. Smith at the city crematory on March 37. He had promised to settle after payday but failed, and Magistrate Gordon sent Constable Shrader to arrest him Friday evening. Prof. Dennis M. Willis of Morgantown University visited here Saturday.

Firemen Benefit Show Delights Dayton Audience

Messrs Shields and Sherman's benefit show for the local fire department runs June 4 and 6 at Victoria theatre. Two Cent Fare Law Goes Into Effect Next Tuesday

Station agents will begin Tuesday observance of the new rate law. The two cent fare law goes into effect next Tuesday morning with rates in many sections virtually cut in twain as shown by the schedule.

Alleghany Conference Meet at Davis Davis Md

The semi annual meeting of the Alleghany Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Maryland will be held at St. John’s Lutheran church in Davis on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Reverend Sifford and Mrs Sifford of Clarksburg will attend with many pastors from Accidents Maryland and nearby communities. The program includes devotional services election of officers organizing the women’s society reports on church state and talks on church government and youth work. New Pastor of St. Pauls Opens Series of Meetings

The Rev Leroy Reid, newly named pastor of St Pauls Methodist Episcopal South, will begin a series of special meetings at the church. Born in Greenbrist county on November 2 1878 he preached his trial sermon shortly after license to preach. He has long served in Virginia West Virginia and Maryland, worked evangelistically and in prohibition campaigns, and led many conversions. All are invited to attend the chess special meetings.

Funeral of Adjutant General Samuel Baker Set for May 20

Special orders from Clarksburg dated May 18 1907 announce the funeral of the late Adjutant General Samuel B Baker will be held in Parkersburg W Va on the afternoon of May 20 1907. The First Brigade West Virginia National Guard many officers and enlisted men and civic groups will participate with a general escort and military honors to be rendered at Mt Olivet Cemetery.
