An old advertisement extols HYOME L antiseptic as superior to sprays and douches for catarrh. It claims liquids fail to reach mucous membranes and bronchial tubes while HYOME L penetrates sore membranes and air cells. Sold by Wells & Haymaker Co for $1 with extra bottles at 60 cents.
Teachers and pupils in Union district organized a literary society at Shady Grove and Morris schools. J C Ward chaired, A J Curry vice chaired, Isaac Brohard clerk, W W Howell critic. The group grew, offered recitations essays biographies and readings with many participants, closing April 19 with music by Michael Beard C A Day and Lloyd Hodkins and a debate on religious rights for Mormons.
Captain Jenks US Assigned to West Virginia reports returning from field drills in Parkersburg Fairmont Clarksburg and Huntington. The war games simulate battles to reveal tactical mistakes with Jenks acting as referee. A Martinsburg World paper chartered as World Purification Company with $25,000 capital is noted amid political rumors.
