Miners Hurt In Coal M ine Accidents Near Lumberport
Two young American miners employed by Consolidation Coal Company were injured in separate derailment accidents over recent hours. James Scheurront, 23, of Lumberport area, was thrown when his mule detoured a car set. he sustained a badly sprained left ankle, leg lacerations, and a leg fracture. He was taken to his parents home to recover about two weeks before return to work. Lloyd Hiatt, 18, of Ocean, was riding a car when it derailed. his leg was broken below the knee, possibly above it, and he was taken home with an expected two months off duty.
