A badly injured worker on a West Virginia railroad line was found near the tracks with signs of amputation and chemical exposure. Authorities suspect foul play after the man ported with no money and injuries traceable to a possible robbery or assault during the afternoon hours.
A rally at Mt. T Chute Colored Church reports totals from a four day effort. Collections show church funds of 142.81, men 96.30, and other offerings 43.65, with a daily total of 255.05. Rev. J. B. Pryor thanks Telegram supporters and praises generous contributions from friends of the church.
The district board of education met Tuesday to discuss the annual closing of business and building matters. Fourteen schools operate with twenty seven teachers and a list of officers and committees was noted.
The Bell telephone exchange undergoes major enlargements and modernization in Oak Hall. A common battery switchboard with modern equipment costs over 25000 dollars. Operators increase from fourteen to twenty seven to extend service citywide.
Columbus June 25 The Ohio State Supreme Court today sustained the state in the case of State of Ohio vs Linder of Erie county. The issue involved alleged whiskey distribution and a trial ruling on a jury instruction. Dr A W Showalter returned from a ten day trip to the Illinois oil fields to oversee interests there.
The county court visited Lost Creek and Highland ford near West Milford to inspect for a new bridge. The court aims to decide on building a bridge at that point to improve road and river access. Also a tax matter: a land tax of 550 dollars charged to Charien Jarvis was stricken, while John M. Carr was exonerated on 2246 dollars and Spates addition lots reduced from 5500 to 2260. Huntington officials to preside over the second annual West Virginia Y P C U convention at Duff Street United Brethren church starting tomorrow for two days. Morning sessions feature devotions, committee appointments, and talks by A H Reese Clyde Swisher and J F Shupe. Afternoon programs include Bible study soul winning and cultural growth discussions led by Rev E Bowmas and J Simms with evening services and addresses.
The Peace Conference received a deputation from Christian churches urging peace justice and humanity. Nell announced the address would be communicated to the conference. Sir and Mrs Carnegie visited the peace site and funds for its erection were promised by Mr Carnegie.
Funeral services for Benjamin F Chui Hewart Sr were held Tuesday at 10 am conducted by Reverends S K Arbuthnot and W M Hudson. Pallbearers included Perry C Williams Dr R Timberlake W C Hickman Anthony Bowen Col Henry Haymond and Hugh Jarvis. Burial followed in Odd Fellows cemetery with large attendance and many floral tributes. The Ancient Order of Hitersists meets at Centennial hall at 7:20 pm tomorrow to discuss M J McAndrew’s death. all members urged to attend.
The Rev D L Reid reports at the Fairmont district conference that the district church totals 5826 members with 167650 in church property and 28400 in parsonages. Sunday school enrollment reaches 4600 and total giving for all purposes nears 40000. The next session will be held in Enterprise in June. Mrs Thomas Prosser had a delicate home operation in Glen Bik Tuesday morning and expects a speedy recovery.
The Hermon area mourns the death of McAndrew aged 38, longtime city official and active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He died after a long illness and is survived by his wife Katherine and four children. Funeral plans are pending with services likely Thursday.
The telegrapher strike remains unchanged with all activity centered at the company main office. A formal notice to the striking operators to return to work yesterday was terminated without compliance and officials say they are within half an hour of their workers at all times.
The Rebekahs I C O F met last night and conferred degrees on two candidates. A public installation of officers is scheduled for Monday night to mark the remainder of the year.
The Central Labor Union of Washington asks President Roosevelt to order an investigation into possible Sherman Act violations by telegraph companies. Labor groups nationwide may join the appeal as detail on probable action remains unclear.
Dr Teter of Oral traveled on No 5 to Montana to meet Biblesda's body who died Thursday. The funeral will be at the Mission Chapel Protestant church at Flintaytha Wednesday forenoon.
A ramshackle four story tenement collapsed early today in New York City, killing six members of the Tar family. Three other relatives were injured but expected to recover. The disaster occurred near the local station quarters and is under investigation by authorities.

In Cincinnati on June 26 a federal judge appointed a receiver for the New Decatur Muggy Company of Middletown. The firm failed two years ago but reorganized. Hare Quackenbush, a partner, filed the application alleging fraud and the cancellation of the new issue of stock.
A Belington resident, A Viquesney, reported that the Barbour County Fair Association will hold a July 4 meeting in Belington. The event will feature pacing and trotting races, bicycle and automobile races, and a fireworks display at night.
The Clarkburg Gun Club holds its annual regular shoot at Culon Heights Wednesday. Members are urged to attend at one o'clock sharp for the main event and postshoot.
