Women to Unite for Hughes Alliance Campaign
The Women's National Committee of the Hughes Alliance met at the Hotel Astor on July 12 to press a nationwide enrollment drive for Charles Hughes. A central committee of 1000 and an overall enrollment goal of 100000 with a $100000 budget were set. The plan allows any woman to enroll with signed approval, with no required dues, and authorizes auxiliary branches locally. The constitution forbids any branch from displaying foreign names, endorsing Americanism as campaign central. The effort aims to secure votes for Hughes while building a broad, nationwide network of supporters.
