Best of Feeling Among Veterans at Gettysburg Encampment
A Gettysburg letter from July 3 describes the 1943 Mt. Clare reunion where veterans from both sides showed strong goodwill. He dismisses reports of riot or hostility, noting affectionate scenes and renewed bonds among former Confederates and Union men. The writer blames a bar room brawl on a local bully and stresses enduring unity.
