The State Senate organized this afternoon with Senator H D Hatfield of Monoweli county as president. The session began at 2:45 PM and adjourned around 2:30. In the House, routine matters were addressed and a partial order set for Tuesday to consider prohibition and a bill regulating gambling.
Dr A P Bourland and Peabody Board representatives join rural school supervisors in Waldo for a state report on district supervision. Attendees include J Hanifan and F J Burdette. An appeal in the Charles Lewis wool theft case was discussed, with decision delayed for several days. Exceptions in Horner case and a $5504 assignment against National Exchange Bank noted. Howell awarded $75 plus costs against Melis Grounds Improvement Company. Jurors excused for Fortivity 9.
The Geological Survey reports Pennsylvania produced far more coal than any state in 1909, about 4.5 times West Virginia and well above Ohio and Illinois. The staff presented him a gold watch Saturday morning as thanks for loyal service and associations. Col Robert B Phillips spoke during the presentation. the event surprised Werkley and left Clarksburians reluctant to see him leave.
Wilkie Cohan, formerly with the Grand Opera House orchestra, has accepted the leadership of the Odeon Orchestra for the balance of the season after the recent fire at the parathon house. The change follows the heat meting during the fire incident.
