President Moorevelt telegraphs Governor Sparke of Nevada warning that a special session of the legislature could avoid federal troops withdrawal. If the call is made within two days, troops will be withdrawn. otherwise, they remain at Gwiddeld for a three week period.
Residents of Wilsonburg announce a movement to seize the post office and transport mail by strong cars. They claim city mail does not reach promptly and that papers addressed to them arrive one or two days late, whether at the office or their homes.
In Georgetown Kentucky today the Caleb Powers trial entered a phase where both sides seek to highlight alleged contradictions in the testimony as the reading of official transcripts aims to focus the jury. The court adjourned at noon with the evidence in the case closed and arguments set for Monday.
The man who jumped from a window of a Baltimore and Ohio express train near Ellerslie seven miles west of Cumberland has been identified as D. C. Haughey a patrolman and former Chicago employee. His body was run over by a freight train and cut to pieces. His head was found by the engine and carried a distance. Haughey lived in Tiffin Ohio where the body was shipped for trial.
Friday evening John Gochanesk sworn warrant for Mike Kintek in Squire Gordons court for carrying a revolver. Mike swore warrant for John charging assault and battery on his wife with an axe. All parties from Pitcairn, arrested by Officers Ord and White. Trial set Saturday at 7. Lochan on bail.

Pittsburg reports the worst epidemic of illness since 1889 with thousands prostrated by pneumonia typhoid fever and virulent URI. The panic spreads to workers in large offices street cars and factories as sickness surges through the city.
In Squire Gordon's court Friday evening Cornelina Mixalix swore a warrant for Steven Voytusnic charging impersonating an officer and extorting five dollars. Voytusnik was arrested by Constable Word and the case set for 7 p.m. Saturday. Cornelino Mixalik, brother of Cornelina, swore out a warrant charging disorderly conduct. he was arrested and will face trial Saturday at 7 p.m.
The annual election of its officers was held by the local lodge of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Wiks of the World colored at Friday night’s meeting. T. J. Jones was elected Exalted Ruler, J. B. Howant K K, Charles Ross L K, William H. Brown M Cc Gen Jones Chaplain, James Gray Secretary, J. W. Hickenbottam Treasurer, Dale Dean Ther, D. Buckner M S S, A. Howard Organist HH, Whames Webster and J ustees. Tues was elected delegate to the St. Paul resunion.
Fut has purchased the remaining interest in the mertean bowling alleys behind Weletz Kig Rin's saloon. Fultz is now sole owner and offers special prizes for January from the first to the fifteenth day. A two dollar cash prize is awarded per game with back and ten pins in play.
A double funeral occurred at Halley church on Saturday forenoon for Thad Deus Teter and James Layman. Interment was in the cemetery or churchyard. Services were brief.
Talory and Lydia Tenkine, colored, procured a marriage license Friday but the wedding was postponed due to objections from the young lady’s father, according to friends of LuIe couple. The report notes there was no wedding planned.
Jacobs Creek Pa Dec 28 Explorations at the Darr coal mine end after slate falls with two hundred twenty bodies recovered. Officials estimate many more may be under the falls as search continues.
The Consolidated Telephone Company will take over Buckhannon Company holdings in early April expanding wires and equipment. The deal, agreed by James W. Downs and J Walter Marnes, will create one of the country’s largest systems and broaden local service.
Harrisville residents subscribed fifty thousand dollars for a railroad from Harrisville toward a B and C connection. A five member committee Patton Fisher Wilson Lawrence and Pritble met Shaffer and McGregor of the C and K Railway by appointment in the Harrisville courthouse. Catherine Olivato and John Lopez were arrested on adultery charges at the instance of farmer John Olivato. Magistrate Gordon committed them to the grand jury, each bonded at 200 dollars but could not furnish the bond and were sent to jail.
Secretary of State Charles Swisher issued a charter to Morris Grocery Company or Yiabure to engage in general merchandise. Capital stock listed at 30,000 with 0 subscribed and 50 Wd. Barker of Smithfield discharged from Kessler hospital after weeks treated for stomach trouble and operation.
Wheeling West Virginia December 28 Senator Nathan B Scott said the country would not err in nominating Fairbanks for president. He noted presidential sentiment is divided at the capital with no crystalization and urged an uninstructed delegation from West Virginia to Chicago. He cited Taft as potentially strong but in danger from friends, Cannon influence, and local dynamics.
The benefit at the skating rink Friday afternoon drew a large crowd and netted a handsome sum. BE Wells led the orchestra with Shinn Milveck Staefano Barnett Frown Dalton and others giving free services. Godfrey Bacon owners and Station manager donated rink and use, aiding the effort. New York dispatch reports Police Lieutenant Cavani and two detectives attempting to arrest Nicolo Bomano, a suspected murderer, when Bomano opened fire injuring Cavani and fatally wounding himself. Cavani survived. Bomano died.
The Osiris Temple Myrtle Shrine held its annual meeting at Masonic Temple Wheeling with 110 members present. Officers for the coming year were elected led by Potentate Newton Waltz and include Chief Rabban Alfred Mark and High Priest H B Bangley. Imperial Council delegates were W W Irwin Heny Bangley Bruce Dawson and Charles E Carrigan for St Paul gathering July 8 12.
Fred Kapfner, a young man, was arrested on Pike Street by Lt. Jof Police Whyte and Officer McCloud for desertion from the United States Army. He reportedly left Washington state last July and has been hitchhiking home, arriving just days ago. Authorities will arrange his return to an Army post.
West Virginia Governor Dawson petitions in circuit court for an injunction against a dry Pratt area whiskey sale. The temporary order blocks a saloon in Ledon Kanawha County within Pratt two mile limit, arguing county court had no license right inside prescribed limits.
