Morris Form New Wholesale Firm to Buy Major Distributor

Robert Morris and partners purchase the General Distributing Company assets in Curriaburg including Ruh Koblegard building and Armtrong Crissip Day & Co stock for over 250000 dollars. Stock invoicing starts after Christmas with possession January 1 1908. The firm will be Morris Wholesale Grocery Company backed by new capital and stockholders.

Committee Holds Charleston Conference With Governor Dawson

Delegate Charles M. Hart returned from Charleston where he and other committee members met with Governor W. M. C. Dawson. The talks aimed to urge the governor to include certain state-institution matters in a call for a special legislative session. The committee adjourned until January.

Held for Grand Jury in Glen Elk murder case

James Shultz, jailed on a murder charge for allegedly stabbing Vincenzo Serao at a Glen Elk boarding house on December 11, was bound over to the circuit court in the sum of 1000 dollars by Magistrate Gordon after a Saturday forenoon hearing. Seréo is recovering from his wounds and Shultz could not post security.

The Daily Telegram installs a Cox Duplex web perfecting press in Clarksburg, upgrading with a large type-setting machine. The seven and a half foot, 40,000 pound unit prints up to 7,200 copies per hour, can produce 4 to 12 page papers, and eliminates stereotyping while expanding capacity and efficiency.

Police hold Whitwaum arrestee linked to Denver warrants

Chief of Police Richard Scott received a telegram from Denver hotelman Charles B. Hamilton stating Whitwaum is wanted on multiple charges there. Whitwaum was arrested near Boyle's Hotel by Lt. Nicholas Whyte after a scuffle with his brother Charles who was jailed for interfering with an officer. Whitwaum faces a fugitive warrant as Denver authorities pursue charges including forgery and theft by false pretenses.

Mine Disaster Toll Near Three Hundred At Darr Mine

Jacobs Creek Pa Dec 21 No new bodies were recovered from the Darr mine by noon today. A total of twelve had been found this morning. Rescue work proceeds with a canvass indicating the death toll may approach three hundred.

Fire at Livery Stable Sparks Quick Fire Department Response

Shortly after o'clock this morning a fire broke out in the J. E. Williams Livery Stable on Daron Pie street opposite the Walker hotel. Excitement rose as flames, born in a defective rear flue, threatened the building but prompt action by a buck et hivimde and the delay by a beer wagon hindered arrival of firefighters until containment. The blaze scorched the railing and walls with slight damage to the interior.
