Navy enlistment oath for Miss Peggy Nichols at Baltimore district

The marriage of Miss Yvonne Low Thomas to Mr. William Henry Young was held on Saturday September 13 at eight in the evening. The ceremony was led by Reverend Dr. G I Rider at Brace Evangelical United Brethren Church with matron of honor Mrs. Paul Seilhamer and best man Mr. Paul Seifhamer. A reception followed at the V F W Home in Hagerstown. Mrs. Young is a Hagerstown High School graduate, employed by Hagerstown Shoe Company, and is serving in the United States Navy. her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Young of 851 Florida Avenue.

Market House Flower Show Opens Amid Large Dahlia Display
The Market House hosted the opening of the annual flower show by the Hagerstown Dahlia Society drawing a large crowd. Judges were Professor J. B. S. Norton Henry J. Betz and Miss Mary Bester with Charles W. Zahn as superintendent and H. W. Ramsburg as secretary. Various classes awarded top prizes to multiple exhibitors led by Mrs. Polsgrove and Mr. Ramsburg across dozens of dahlia categories including peony ball, collarette, anemone, orchid, pompon and decorative varieties with special distinctions for largest and best in show.
