Santa Cruz Cal September 27 A woman identified as Mrs LA Thornewill was found shot dead in her home after sheriff deputies responded to a telephone girl's report of a scream. A rifle lay nearby and the telephone receiver was off the hook. The man, A Thornewill, claimed the woman used his name and said he did not consider her his wife, her real name being Cora Meade. He said they quarreled last night but he left in good spirits and was not arrested. The sheriff rejected suicide as a cause, noting she could not have shot herself and crawled away. The victim was a regular poultry exhibitor with prizes at shows and fairs across California.

Woman Burned By Lightning In Franklin County Farm
Mrs. Arthur Zook of Edenville Franklin county was severely burned when a lightning bolt struck her feeding in the swine shed during a Tuesday night storm. The bolt started a barn fire and destroyed the barn and all crops on the farm. Despite burns to her right side and skin burned off at the waist she is expected to recover, according to a physician.

In Twin Falls Idaho on Sept 27 a long running feud over road ownership ended in tragedy. W C Tharp 45 dairyman shot and killed Mrs Bowen in her front yard after a confrontation with the Bowen family.
