Federal statistician John S. Dennee reports Maryland crop production this year will be slightly below last year overall. Hay, oat and potato crops exceed the ten year and current averages, while corn, grape, peach, pear and apple yields fall short of prior levels, with corn near 15.9 million bushels and grapes and fruit crops notably reduced.
The German production Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang and starring Gustav Fröelich and Brigitte Helm is shown at the Colonial Theatre this week. A story of efficiency without a soul, it envisions a 1927 metropolis with sensational settings and a love theme amid dramatic events.
