EASTON Md Rep Edward Z Muller Republican today rejected his Democratic opponent s proposal to join in refusing outside campaign contributions. Muller defended accepting funds from friends summer residents and party enthusiasts regardless of residency noting it s a national election. Fox Jr Wicomico County State s attorney had urged both to pledge not to accept non state sources and to reveal all contribution sources. Muller replied that he would allow review of campaign finance records by authorized agents and indicated legal requirements would be enforced.

Charles Richard Wachter aged 28 a Potomac Edison lineman died after contact with a 2400 volt line near Cearfoss Pike while restoring service after a derrick knocked down poles. Chief Wilbur C. Wade said the death appears to be murder as authorities sent a decomposed body to Baltimore City morgue for final determination.
