Elmer F. Rader an 18 year old Amigh high school pitcher is left the bulk of a $75,000 estate by Robert W. Hallam a retired factory superintendent who moved next door to Elmer years ago making him the town's wealthiest youth.
Elmer, a silver burnisher at a local factory, earns ten hours daily and saves his pay. Hallam, a recluse widower who died suddenly without relatives, left a will noting Elmer’s thrift and small acts of kindness. The will grants Elmer annual interest on $60,000 for college expenses and the principal after graduation.
Mrs J B Davinon returns from a week in Baltimore and Ocean City. Mrs Frank Finfrock is seriously ill at Weset Franklin street home. Miss We White Leitersburg visits sister Mrs George F Blosser Arco apartments. Samuel King Chicago Illinois spends vacation in town. he is brother of David King who donated the playground. Miss Annie Keefer visits relatives in Shippensburg. J H Black and Dr J H Gilland to open automobile supply room at National Hotel Centre square. Netlie Hollar returns from Washington D C.
Rev Dr Scott A Wagner of Vien Reformed Church preaches in Allen Town Pa this evening for St John s Rededication after remodeling. Next Sunday he preaches at Second Church Reading Pa which church marks its 751h anniversary. Red Cross notes Mrs Frank I Bentz reports on Washington convention with President Coolidge and Ambassador Palanihari. New public health offices and partition work at 12 East Washington Street with Miss Olive Bolcum in charge. Health Demonstration offices to be repapered and new lights planned. Washington county's drive for the Japanese Relief Fund will end this week with a final check of 1332 sent to the Washington Division headquarters from the total 3822 collected through the local Red Cross. A 2500 check had been mailed earlier and subsequent subscriptions have doubled at headquarters. A Blue Ridge branch check of 471.80 arrived, and Christ Reformed Church gave 5 while Harry H E and John A Wolfe contributed 2.
Miss Viola Wittinghem of 1S South Locust sustained a puncture wound when a needle ran into her finger at the Hagerstown Shou and Legeing Company. A local physician treated the injury.
The Board of Supervisors of Election will hold registration and revision sittings across Washington County Maryland on dates to be announced. Locations include Red Men Hall Sharpsburg Town Council room Williamsport Antietam Fire Hall Hagerstown Odd Fellows Hall Clear Spring Boonsboro Leitersburg Sandy Hook Waynesboro and numerous residences and halls for Districts 1 through 28. Registration hours run 9 AM to 8 PM with revision on October 16 from 8 AM to 7 PM.
