In Hagerstown and western Maryland continued fair conditions with lows in the 50s. Saturday and Sunday show partly cloudy skies with chances of showers and mild temperatures. Eastern Shore remains fair tonight and Saturday with little temperature change. Low tonight near 55 and partly cloudy to milder conditions. West Virginia expects fair weather tonight with lows in the 50s, Saturday partly cloudy and warm with possible showers at northern points. Eastern Pennsylvania mostly fair tonight but increasing cloudiness, low around 60, Saturday partly cloudy and high near 70.
The Antietam Battlefield area faces liquor license transfers as the Board approved one Class D on off sale beer wine liquor from Russell Priest to Ralph M and Virginia A Healey and took under advisement a Class B hotel and restaurant license transfer from Viola Stockslager for a new establishment named The Paradise near Sharpsburg Pike. Opponents Hubert P Stine Mrs Edgar Cline and Cecil Poffenberger cited proximity to Antietam Battlefield and nearby liquor outlets as a concern. Mrs Cline noted four existing outlets within miles and complained of waste from bottles.
