Port Jervis X Y Sept 22 Three persons were slain Monday in what State Police described as a double murder and death by own action Lieutenant Walter Riley said Merritt Meade 28 apparently murdered Louis Davey 62 a farm hand employed by Miss Isabelle Green 82 forced his estranged wife Grace 25 into an automobile and then killed her en route to the Meade farm at Greenville Meade drove three miles to his father's farm where he was employed dragged his wife's body from the automobile and called to his mother Terrified at the sight the elder Mrs Meade ran into the field to seek help When she returned with Meade's father they found their son's body lying beside his wife with two bullet wounds in the head He died in a hospital Riley said he learned from another employe at the Green place that Daver had told Meade to stay away from the farm DR CONANT TO SAIL CAMBRIDGE Mass Sept 22 Harvard's young president Dr James Bryant Conant will sail for England Wednesday as a tourist class passenger aboard the Queen Mary the university announced tonight Conant will be accompanied by his wife but their two children will remain at school here The button pear earring Bale tains its popularity Elaborate shower and pendant types of rhinestone are employed for evening use.

The Rt Rev Bernard James Bradley longtime president of St Marys College Emmitsburg died Monday at Providence Hospital Washington aged 69 after pleurisy and hypostatic pneumonia He led the college for 26 years oversaw enrollment growth and major buildings including the seminary church gym and administration building His career included teaching logic and liturgy and he was made a Monsignor in 1914 by Cardinal Gibbons with papal approval Burial is at the college cemetery.

Velvet ant found on Maryland farm named cow killer in velvet
Lawrence Hill, on his farm near Princess Anne, Maryland, captured a seven sixty inch long velvet ant. Local experts identify it as a mutillide velvet ant known as a cow killer.
