Dr Miller traced the health department’s arc from post turn of the century efforts funded by a $500 citizen drive to hire a Health nurse through present strengths. Dr Campbell cited a decade long battle to place a full-time officer with local officials and the Mayor. Mayor Elgin recalled voting aye as the issue advanced and legslative health standards were pursued. A nominating committee for office was formed by Heiskel Club president Lee Staley.

Woman pleads guilty to aiding prison escape and robberies
Barbara Bird, 20, pleaded guilty in Cleveland to helping her husband Charles and his brother Frank escape from jail and assist in robberies. She faced four years at Milan Federal Penitentiary in Michigan after being brought from Baltimore. Earlier she pleaded innocent, then changed her mind and was re-arraigned. She will await a December birth in Milan.

The Speck flour mill near Licking creek was sold at public auction in front of the Court House yesterday afternoon. Auctioneer Fred A. White oversaw a bid of 2700 dollars, with J. C. Seibert purchasing. J. C. Snyder sold Emma Newcomer’s 85 acre Benevola farm for 6000 dollars. The Springer farm in Chewsville district was withdrawn.

Auto Collision Near Hagerstown Injures Several
An early night crash on the National highway one mile west of Hagerstown injured several people. Rev. Andrew A. Three Indicted On Mann Act Charges
Irene Whittington Oksan Dery monjian alias Oscar Miller and James F Brown all of this city were indicted by a federal grand jury in Baltimore on charges of violating the White slave traffic act. They were arrested here months ago by city police and federal officers. Several local witnesses testified before the grand jury.
