Advertises a blood tonic claimed to purify and revitalize blood, removing impurities to drive out rheumatism. Mentions the tonic as a remedy originating in the United States and suggests consulting a druggist for special advice, with Atlanta, Ga as contact.
Robert Beck, former Chicago taxi firm owner, writes from a war zone about surviving a deadly armored car mission. He says he was wounded, deaf and mute from shock, and describes driving at speed through corpses and wrecks with Maxim guns firing 500 rounds a minute while carrying 19,000 rounds. He recounts crushing foes, shelling, and bloodied injuries as the summer died in war.
Roncerverte West Virginia September 16 a massive dynamite blast at the Trancier stone quarries seven miles west of town destroyed a 100 foot high wall and produced a vast heap in the valley. Fifteen holes were drilled with 120 feet of charges and the blast drew a film crew to record the event. The charge, set by electricity, cost about $8000 and created widespread alarm as rocks did not fly outward. Nearby, minor legal cases and social notes follow in the blotter.

Miss Matilda Dolive and Frank H. Dearing wed in Fort St. Louis with a prenuptial pact binding her to remain his wife till death. She declared no divorce or separate maintenance, though not opposed to divorce on principle. Dearing, traveling freight agent, cited shielding children from litigation. She runs the St. Louis branch of Victor Chemical Works and plans to stay employed while he’s away. Dearing’s home is in Athens. He had divorced Pauline H. Dearing in 1912 after a transfer to St. Louis and relocation issue. They married April 6, 1910, with two children Pauline and Albin.
George A Manning a 16 year old of Fulton county near Hancock was arrested by U S Deputy Marshal Ohler on charges of using the mails to defraud He appeared before U S Commissioner Hagner and was held on 300 bail Manning is accused by Federal authorities of offering to sell Miss Marie Footman of South Carolina who advertised for a peacock and received 6 but had no bird The case was developed by Port of fice Inspector John J Lemen and involves repeated schemes
