In Washington County SPCA EB Hurd reports July and August saw 175 calls one cruelty case, sheltering 200 pets, 95 city dogs and 27 county dogs picked up, 74 city cats, all but one humanely placed, five dogs placed in homes, and items including a rat and a skunk in the collection. EB Hurd compares to Philadelphia SPCA activities and notes higher busyness.
On the Mt Etna road farm of Dr. Robert C. Snavely authorities report five prowling dogs destroyed by E. L. Hurd of the local P C A A number of registered sheep on the farm were believed killed by dogs recently Hurd said he would continue to kill prowling dogs on the open road.
