A Copenhagen dispatch quoted Berlin radio naming Paul Edwin Soerensen of Aalborg as the first Dane executed for sabotage. Another Dane was killed while attempting to escape as authorities detained saboteurs caught with explosives dropped by British planes.
Hagerstown residents are urged to mail Christmas boxes for service members overseas soon to reach them before holidays. Guidelines include weight under five pounds, length under 15 inches, and total girth under three feet. Navy parcels must be mailed by November 1, Army by October 15, with clear labeling “Christmas Parcel.”
Local families answer family abroad requests for Christmas boxes with items like personal wear, toilet articles, and playing cards. Lt Dora V Bowers and T/5 Rodger Munson are noted givers, while Lawrence C Campbell seeks a pen and hard candy for his overseas son.
