Irishman Says He Captured Red Flying Saucer
Thomas J. Hutchinson of MONEYMORE reports to police that a flaming red flying saucer dropped from low clouds near his bog in County Derry. He describes an egg shaped craft with dark red markings that spun and vanished into rain clouds as he attempted to carry it to the village, RAF says it does not belong to them.

Electric chair death of Robert Hopkins in West Virginia
Slain Indianapolis mechanic Robert Lee Hopkins was executed in the West Virginia State Penitentiary death chamber after being convicted of bludgeoning Thomas Lanty Ervine of DuPont City. Witnesses including Ervine’s father watched as Hopkins died after two 1760 volt shocks. Hopkins had read the Bible, was baptized the night before, and left a statement seeking God's mercy. He had been granted a 30-day reprieve for psychiatric exams and was deemed sane by officials.

Rev Chas Funk Former County Pastor Dies at 74
The Rev Charles Hume Funk longtime Hyattstown Md Christian Church pastor and former Beaver Creek pastor died early today at Montgomery County Hospital Sandy Springs from a heart attack after a three day illness. He was 74 born in Elizabethtown Kentucky son of Thomas B and Frances Ann Funk. He held a BA from Philips University and a BD from Yale. Survived by wife Corda Vashti Edwards Funk daughter Ann Lee Crockett two granddaughters two sisters and a brother Funeral will be Monday at Beaver Creek Christian Church at 2 30 pm with several ministers officiating. Interment Beaver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at East Funeral Home Boonsboro until Monday noon and at the church from one until time of service.

Fleeing motorist nabbed after crash into gas pump
A Funkstown motorist, Leroy Ebberts 40 of 17 West Street, crashed his car into a gas pump and left the scene. State police arrested him after witnesses provided license and tag numbers. He was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene, fined 200 dollars total with a 50 dollar suspended fine. Firefighters extinguished a blaze from a ruptured gas line near a store in Smithsburg. In a separate dispatch, a Menzies mission spokesman in Cairo said talks with President Nasser are ongoing and not yet final.

Six Indicted For Blinding Of Columnist
New York federal grand jury indicts labor racketeer John Dio Dioguardi and six others on a one count conspiracy charge for the acid blinding of labor columnist Victor Riesel. Pranks Bring Traffic of Empty Deliveries to Funkstown Home
Sheriff officers search for a prankster after a series of unsolicited deliveries to Johnel Sullivan at 16 West Baltimore Street. A finance company offered $1000 for a supposed loan, a dry cleaning truck arrived to collect items, and blocks and coal were directed to the residence, all without spoken orders from the Sullivans. Two Crashes Hurt Two In County Night
Two accidents left two drivers injured in the county last night. Arthur B. Richards Jr aged 17 suffered facial lacerations after his car left Sharpsburg Pike and was wrecked. his vehicle was demolished. At Northern Avenue and Route 11 a collision between vehicles driven by William F. Bailey of Jamaica, New York, and Thurman C. Martin of Greencastle occurred when Bailey attempted a left turn into Martin’s path. Bailey had head lacerations and was charged with turning left when not safe.

Evelyn Dawson and Charles A Schoppert faced magistrate Ottinger after a drunken driving case. A car left Uniontown road near Westminster two miles west and struck a tree stump. Robert Lee Kefauver aged 15 died at the scene from a fractured skull. Raymond Flora, 17, was admitted to University Hospital in Baltimore. Driver Otis Lovejoy, 21, and passengers Sterling Sprague, 13, and Ronald Stitely, 13, were treated and released.
