The Office of Price Administration expects most price controls to lift by year end with eight areas already decontrolled and 75 to 100 more likely in four to five months. It also raised the eviction waiting period from three to six months in 487 federal rental areas to shield tenants while outlining a gradual removal of price ceilings across foods clothing and consumer goods.

He faces counts of possessing a still for liquor, operating an unregistered still, and distilling without bond.
SAN FRANCISCO Sept. 6 Saburo R Kurusu the Japanese envoy in Washington says he knew nothing of Pearl Harbor raid plans and is deeply hurt by American accusations. He told Frederick C Opper that he did not know about the attack before leaving Tokyo and that his home was burned in a B29 raid while his son, a Japanese air force captain, was killed in Tokyo.
