Right Rev Joseph Crane Martzell bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church for Africa died at Christ Hospital from injuries suffered when he was bound and beaten by robbers at his Blue Ash home June 1. Two men attacked the aged bishop after seeking to use a telephone, breaking his thigh and slashing his head. robbers stole his gold watch and a wallet containing $15.

In Havana on September 6 Santos Olivares, Cuba's oldest citizen aged 115, died today after enjoying full health until a week prior. James C Oconnell 23 formerly of 414 Mitchell Avenue Hagerstown died in Coney Island Hospital New York from exposure after an attempted escape from the Army Transport U S Grant with two naval prisoners. Police seek relatives. address believed former Salvation Army HQ with no record of him. The Grant carried over a hundred general prisoners to Alcatraz Island. The three escaped in a canoe, were near drowning in rough water, and were rescued or died during the night.
Waynesboro newspaper employees split on whether Charley Weynant’s charm or luck killed a copperhead snake that crawled into his car between Sabil lasville and Rouzerville. He drove the mountain road, then grabbed a wrench and dispatched the reptile as it lay at his brake foot during the descent.

Wallace Jones journeyed from Columbus to Latonia and Georgia by rail to visit his ailing mother. In Cincinnati he was nearly caught trespassing then went to Newport for food where a $10 bill vanished, hooch arrived instead of buttermilk, leading to police confiscation and the proprietor’s arrest. He left town penniless, bound for Georgia.
BI Henson, an old offender, appeared in police court this morning for the twenty sixth time since Justices Duffey and Bitner took office in May 1927. He was arraigned before Justice Bitner on vagrancy and drunkenness charges and a prior five day term. He warned Sheriff Kline he would return by evening.
