COUNTY SWEPT BY RAINSTORM AND LIGHTNING DAMAGE
A severe electric storm hit Hagerstown and Washington County last evening causing damage across several sites. Two houses on Elizabeth street were struck, the Potomac Fish and Game Clubhouse near Williamsport had its roof and second floor destroyed by a lightning strike, and a large tree fell blocking traffic. The Williamsport firefighters saved the first floor. club officials estimate about 2000 dollars in damage, mostly to the second floor, with insurance coverage. Roads flooded in Big Spring, crops washed out, and rainfall measured at Chewsville will be higher than the official 0.32 inch.
