Suspect Named In Attempted Rape Incident
State police issued a nationwide alert for Clifton E. Shewles of Round Hill Virginia as a suspect in an attempted rape and pistol whipping in Harpers Ferry West Virginia on Sunday night. The suspect was identified by the victim on Wednesday, after her boyfriend was knocked unconscious. The uncle Theodore Lewis, 58, of Keedysville Maryland, was held as an accessory and bound over to the grand jury. The victim’s father later identified Clifton Lewis, who allegedly tried to shoot him but the gun misfired. Lewis had previously served six months for assaulting a girl in Hagerstown. He has reddish brown curly hair blue eyes and a tattoo on each forearm.
