After three years of planning the 17 members of the Washington County Hospital School of Nursing class of 1953 will graduate and be capped this evening. In the photo, Miss Helen Pauline McDonald of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, is featured.

Miss Linda Harrison was feted on her second birthday at a backyard party hosted by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Keneth Harrison at 223 James Street. Children played games led by Carolyn Radisill with prizes won by Patsy Blair Diana Blair Michael Blair Ronnie Blair and Eddie Rudisill. Attending were Carolyn Kline Kenny Guessford Lee Guessford Debby Guessford Catherine Guessford Michael Fair Darlene Kay Brewer Nancy Rudisill Larry Rudisill and other relatives.
The Fountain Head Country Club ladies golf league saw the Brassies defeat the Niblicks 78 to 26 in yesterday’s handicap tournament. In 18 hole flights Mrs. William Thomas beat Mrs. Victor Miller Jr while Mrs. Frank McCraw led in the second flight. the Brassies also led nine hole events with Funkhouser and Stonebraker tying for first and Hill securing top nine hole in the second flight.
Announcement from Seattle reports the marriage of Miss Sally Estelle Scripps and Mr. Lewis Tolman Byres II on August 20. Scripps attended the University of Washington and Finch College. Tolman Byres is a Johns Hopkins medical student and Princeton graduate, with a Deer Head Manor Farm, Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, address.
The Western Maryland Sportsman Club Auxiliary will meet on Thursday September 3 to discuss plans for a family picnic to be held September 13 at the club house.
A column of local residents announces moves, home purchases, family visits, and travel. Mr and Mrs Jack T Greene relocate to 141 Greenmont Avenue Halfway with daughter Beverly Ann Payne. Families including Nolan, Dallas, Goodwins, McLaughlin, and Stine visit relatives in Md, N Y, Va and Ky, while others return from trips to New York City, Maine, Nova Scotia, and Florida. Eye operation noted for Edgar Forrest in Baltimore. Clergy Dr Frederick Eyster plans to preach at Christ's Evangelical and Reformed Church.
Descendants of Godfrey and Mary Jane Funkhouser staged their annual reunion at Shafer Memorial Park Boonsboro on Sunday August 16. A short business meeting followed a picnic with the current slate of officers rejected and a 1954 reunion vote set for the same park. Attendants included numerous Funkhouser relatives and spouses with extended family listed among attendees.
A birthday party honoring Mrs. Hattie B. Groves and Ollie Branklin Rose was hosted by Naomi Rose at Hagerstown City Park. Attendees included Catherine Sprecker, Bill Marshall, Ber nice Farrell, Donnie Wilson, Bruce Farrell and family, Marvin and Cora May Rose, Leroy Wiles and family, Walter Sprecher and family, Stanley Springer, Roger Groves and others.
List of local residents including Maude Miner Leona Moyer and Bill Marshall with families attended as the Pentacostal musicians provided music. The Rev Miller and choir offered several vocal selections during the event.
