Building scaffolding in front of the residence owned by Jona MM. Myerly at North Potomac Street is being removed. The scaffold was erected years ago for renovation. City Building Inspector Charles J W Smith said the remainder should be removed within the next two months.

Mansfield Texas school officials vote to exhaust every method to delay integration for one year after an angry mob barred Negroes from Mansfield High School. The district closed at noon and will reopen Tuesday with registration to resume. Gov. Shivers sent Texas Rangers to assist law enforcement as he urged officials to remove scholastics from the district who threaten violence. Earlier the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied the board’s stay request on the integration order.
Washington officials urged restraint as the United States and Red China exchanged sharp accusations after a U S Navy P 2V Neptune aircraft was shot down off the China coast. The joint State and Defense Department statement blamed Red China for the attack but noted the incident occurred over international waters.
Four California State Prison Camp convicts fled San Quentin in a stolen truck and an airplane, authorities say. Oregon police and FBI joined a long pursuit through timber country near Myrtle Creek and Happy Camp, with two convicts briefly chased in a stolen car before escaping.
City Treasurer W. Ho Burhans warned that interest will be added to unpaid 1955 city real estate and personal property taxes. Interest starts at 1.5 percent a month, increasing with each month unpaid. He noted several hundred accounts remain unpaid and must be settled by January to avoid city action.
Keedysville motorist Cleveland G. Holmes, 34, was injured last night when his car left Chestnut Grove Road and struck a tree east of Keedysville. He suffered a fractured knee, possible right leg fracture, and facial lacerations and was admitted to Washington County Hospital. State Trooper David Hasenbubler reported he ran off the left side of the road.
