Guy Neikirk a Kemp's Mill native and longtime Nicodemus National Bank executive died after a 45 year career with the bank. Suits Filed for $325000 in Auto Crash Injuries

Four Washington County residents sue in Frederick County Circuit Court for damages totaling 325000 after a December crash on U S 40 at New Market Road. Plaintiffs include Patrolman Paul E Dixon and his wife Evelyn Dixon, George Cravatt of Boonsboro, and Mrs A C Lowry Jr of Nottingham Road. The tank truck involved belonged to Hahn Transportation of New Market driven by John Harris. Dixon sustained facial and head injuries requiring plastic surgery and Evelyn Dixon was hospitalized for six months. Cravatt suffered severe head injuries and Mrs Lowry was also injured.

Two Held In Receiving Of Stolen Guns

Two men Woodrow W. Mallett and Henry F. Ridenour were held on $500 bond each as Circuit Court action began on charges of receiving stolen goods linked to nine guns stolen from Western Auto at 29 W. Franklin St last Thursday night. Police recovered a 30 06 rifle and a 410 shotgun. Ridenour claimed he found four guns hidden behind the old Academy theater on W. Washington St and that a taxicab was used to take him to Williamsport where he met Mallett.

Serious Fire Averted In Tourist Cabin

A serious fire at the White House Cabins near Boonsboro was stopped by Boonsboro firemen this morning. An overheated stove pipe ignited a two by four, quickly extinguished before major damage. The cabin occupant was away. responders arrived in about 15 minutes. Earlier, Williamsport firemen fought a Greencastle Pike blaze in an overstuffed chair, with smoke filling the home but only the chair damaged.
