World’s tiniest, most efficient radio from navy dump heap
In San Diego on October 29 a tiny radio set weighing 17 14 pounds including sender and aerials was created by Captain Francis E. Pierce of the U S Marine Corps West Coast Expeditionary Force. The device operates on 3000 to 4000 kilocycles and can be heard 300 miles away under normal flying conditions. It was built from salvaged parts by Marines and officers who funded and assembled it in the group’s spare time.
