Robertson Acquitted in Mills Murder Trial
A Frederick Hunty jury acquitted Edward T. Robertson of Edward L. Mills murder after less than two hours deliberation. Robertson testified to friendly relations with Mills and claimed he took the pistol from Wilson Trout after a quarrel. He denied killing Mills and argued the note on Mills’ coat and matching bullets did not prove guilt. The case relied on circumstantial evidence and had a crowded courtroom awaiting the verdict.
