In Little Rock on October 27 the Democratic and Republican state committees united to back Effie Jean Wingo, widow of the late Otis T. Wingo, as representative for Arkansas Fourth District. She was unanimously chosen by the Democratic Central committee for the term ending March 4, 1931 and the following two-year term, with her name to appear on November 4 ballots. the Republicans quickly endorsed her as well.

Two men held for sugar warehouse robbery
Two men are jailed in Washington County on charges of robbing 600 pounds of sugar from Lawrence H. Colbert’s warehouse at Trego last Sunday night. George Pilgrim of Boonsboro and Merle Crone of Middletown confessed, with Pilgrim saying the sugar was moved to a still site for whiskey. Entrance was via a double door.
