Virginia Switzer, 24, a Mississippi country school teacher, vanished in McHenry and later claimed three men and a blonde woman abducted her in New Orleans, forcing a ransom note. Police skeptical, she was found in a New Orleans theatre dressing room 13 hours after disappearance.

The body of James B. Dorsey, 43 or 49, was found along the National Highway near Benevola and sent to Baltimore for burial. Identification came via fingerprints at police headquarters. Investigators will not hold a formal inquest, though state and county officers will probe. Dorsey was last seen in Benevola and found with a fractured skull and mangled shoulder. authorities noted tattoos and initials on the arm.
