National Girl Scout week will be observed by all troops in the city and county from October 29 to November 4 with displays of merit badge work in Grand Building windows and daily programs. Thursday hosts a night play at the High School by the Service Troop. Saturday outdoor hikes are planned. Carl Pfieffer will lecture on trees at the High School tomorrow, free to scouts and the public, under Girl Scout Leaders' Association. Jean Christy will visit next week for a leaders course in tramping and trailing.
Mr and Mrs Lynn K Brugh Jr of 1809 Summit Avenue announce the birth of a son at Washington County Hospital yesterday.
The Catholic Daughters of America plan a card party for St Mary's Parochial School tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock in the Western Enterprise building. Bridge and five hundred tables will be set, with prizes and refreshments. Mrs Marie Bloom and Mrs Stella Stouffer will be hostesses.

Mrs Harvey Smith received a Saturday birthday party at 707 Hamilton boulevard hosted by Mr and Mrs B F Yates with Hallowe en decorations and games. Card prizes went to Claude Potterfield William Ranels and more attendees included Mr and Mrs Claude Potterfield Mr and Mrs Harvey Smith and several Swink and Boger relatives.
Mr and Mrs D M Peters and children Eden Phyllis and Richard return to 1196 Potomac Avenue after several days in Baltimore. Miss Hilda Jones of Washington spent the weekend nearby with her parents. A Dent of the Hagerstown Kiwanis lab and Mrs Warne have returned from Lynchburg Virginia where they attended the Capital District Kiwanis convention. A H Warne and Mr and Mrs Willian S Seibert have returned from New York City where hairdressers’ convention featured the latest hair styles.
A surprise birthday gathering at 626 West Washington honored three birthdays: Mrs. J. H. Pearl, Miss Dorothy Pearl, and O. C. Hawbaker of Waynesboro. Three cakes, flowers, and candlelight greeted guests including J. H. Pearl, Hawbaker family members, and various friends.
The Women’s Club garden section will meet Wednesday at 2 30 at the clubhouse. Mrs John Stottelmyer of Hancock will give a talk and demonstration on forcing potted bulbs indoors. She is noted for prize winning plants and will present bulb varieties provided by Miss Mary Bester for selection. All club members interested are invited.
A large delegation of teachers from local schools attended the State Teachers Convention in Baltimore City. Friday included school observations and section meetings, a banquet at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, and a Saturday concert by the All Maryland orchestra. Principal speakers included Dr. Arthur Gates of Columbia University. Hagerstown teachers listed among attendees.
The Evangelical Lutheran church in Frederick hosted the marriage of Miss Theresa Elizabeth Stull daughter of Mr and Mrs J K Stull of the city to Dr Allen John Reed son of Mr and Mrs Own B Reed of Lorraine New York The bride wore pale pink crepe and a pearl strand gift from the groom A brown turban and slippers completed the attire The maid of honor wore a green crepe dress with gray turban and carried bronze chrysanthemums Best man was Dr Arthur Wheeler of Baltimore The couple will reside in Hanover Pennsylvania where Reed recently opened a dental office
Elks lodge announces a Halloween ball October 31 at the Hagerstown Country Club with the New and Greater Orchestra led by Jimmy De Angelis. The club auditorium will be seasonally decorated and many out of town guests are expected.
The Williamsport P. T. A. announces a dance in the high school auditorium next Friday evening at six o'clock. Funds will go toward equipping the school and an orchestra is being organized among the younger pupils.
Louise Fisher daughter of Lloyd Fisher Kee dysville and Carrell M Rohrer son of Elmer Rohrer Rohrersville were married on Saturday morning in Rockville. Rev J Lloyd Brick solemnized. Bride wore brown crepe dress and harmonizing accessories. They left for Washington and will reside near Heedysville.
The Willow Riding and Hunt Club held its first Fall ride yesterday morning departing at seven toward Smithsburg, breakfasting at Mrs. Delauter’s home. The party included Mr. and Mrs. Preston Howard, Kitty Starr, Doris Stine, Louise Gimple, Doris Draper, Betty Harshman, Mary Ground, Mrs. Snyder, Brosé Foreman, Thurman Thurston, Dick Foreman, Harvey Smith and others.
The Le Grange duo presented a four program recital in the city last year to a large appreciative audience. Instruments included marimba xylophone piano accordion saxophone organ chime and musical bottles. Numbers ranged from humor tunes to romance with humorous readings by Mrs Le Grange making the performance highly popular and repeatedly invited back.
The Jubilee Singers will present an October 24 program at St. Pauls U B Church in the 8 o clock hour under the Women s Missionary Society auspices. It will be a completely different program from last year with new selections.
Rev D Worman of Leitereburg, president of the Western Maryland Conference, Synod of Mary, will preside at the business session of the conference meeting at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro on Tuesday October 24. The morning devotional will be led by Rev C M Huddle of Williamsport Maryland with pastors participating in discussions. Rev Dr J B Simeon of Hagerstown will speak on Stewardship in the Present Crisis, and Rev Drs Edward Harms of Hagerstown will address plans for TL C a. Rev W L Remsburg of Funkstown will lead the afternoon devotional. Rev Dr J W Ott of Hagerstown will discuss The Moral Integrity of the church, while Rev Dr M A Abady of Martinsburg will speak on An Estimate of Martin Luther and Rev Dr J W Ott will address What of the Home Missions of Our Synod. The secretary of will deliver a sermon in the evening service.
A wedding at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Romesburg Hopewell Maryland joined Miss Eleanora J Tedrow of Rockford Pennsylvania to Samuel J Romesburg of Garrett Pennsylvania. Rev W L Remsburg presided the ceremony drew few friends. Bride wore Copenhagen blue with pin rosebud corsage and a dinner followed with guests including Mrs W L Remsburg and Mr William Snooks. The couple then traveled to Baltimore for their honeymoon.
Seventy five Alsatian members with spouses toured mountainous country yesterday, leaving at two and returning at seven. A chicken dinner was served in McConnellaburg, marking the club's first event. Mr and Mrs Alvin Saum hosted a surprise dinner October 22 for Mr and Mrs K Morin on their 23rd anniversary and Mrs Morin's birthday with Ruth Jane Martha Newton Paul Nuts present.
