Arrests Grow From Mt Briar Tavern Brawl
Thomas Miller of Mt Briar was arrested on assault and battery after a tavern brawl near Burkittsville. His brother George B. Miller, 48, faces assault with intent to kill over James L. Himes’s stabbing. Himes, 28, of Weverton, is in Frederick Hospital with a deep chest wound. Other detainees include Leo Griffith, 20, Thomas McAftt, 21, Elmer McAfee, 17. Training School To Close Monday In Hagerstown
The Standard Leadership Training School of the Hagerstown Council of Churches and Christian Education will close Monday night with a commencement at 9. The sixteenth annual program will be led by Rev. Dr. H. A. Fesperman and assisted by Revs. G. Aubrey Young and Edwin Boardman Jr. The keynote address will be delivered by Rev. M. A. Keesecker. About 125 certificates and one diploma will be awarded. Donald R. Warrenfeltz of St. Pauls Lutheran Funkstown is the graduate. Soloist Mrs Madelin Brewer Dively will sing Beside the Still Waters and Mrs. Ralph C. Moore will preside at the piano. About 125 participants from twenty churches took courses this year. faculty included Rev. Edwin Boardman Jr, Rev. Paul M. Robinson, Rev. Blanche Lengle, Rev. G. Aubrey Young and Mrs. Norman Snively. Board of Administration includes Rev. Dr. Paul E. Holdcraft.
