Man Hangs Self At Police Station
Al Barnitz aged 65 died by hanging in his cell at Chambersburg police headquarters Saturday morning while awaiting arraignment on a panhandling charge. He used a rope dropped within reach by the city dog catcher, tied it to the bunk and his neck, and slid off. Coroner A W Thrush ruled likely strangulation.
