An eight year old boy, son of Wesley Waves, was struck while running into the path of a passing automobile in front of his home. He sustained a sash to his head and bruises. The incident occurred in the early evening as several neighbors witnessed the event.
Sharpsburg men were returning from Hagerstown when a boy ran into the road and was struck by a net machine. He was treated by the Sharpsburg physician. The accident was deemed unavoidable. Mr. Paul Hull of Clear Spring was a caller with his father on Sunday.
The Hagerstown Local of the Interstate & Producers Association held a meeting at the AMC A last evening. Simon L Downer reelected president and Ira Downey reelected secretary treasurer. John B Woolkill named to attend the national meeting in Philadelphia November 18 19 with Grover Sprecher as alternate. E C Dunning discussed financing plans and milk pricing. The group noted drought reducing milk production and discussed emergency feeding with Milt D Moore. Freight-rate reductions saved about 13900 for county farmers and plans for upcoming locals and elections were outlined.
Newly elected Alsatia Club officers were installed at a large meeting on West Washington Street. Plans for the Mummers Parade on October 31 were announced and the Alsatia basketball team will open its season on Thanksgiving night with opponent TBA. Officers include President G. C. Brandenburg, Vice President F. Merrill Hays, Secretary Hubert E. Miller, and Treasurer John J. Fiery.
John McLucas of West Side avenue pleaded guilty before Magistrate J H Bitner to a liquor selling charge. He was fined 150 dollars plus costs after being arrested Saturday night on the Sharpsburg Pike by Deputy Charles Cushna, who found two gallons of whiskey in the machine.
President Hoover plans to seek large appropriations for unemployment relief when Congress meets in December. A Cabinet unemployment committee, named by Hoover, will hold its first meeting today to discuss concrete winter aid measures for those facing hunger. Secretary Lamont will chair the panel with Hyde Hurley Wilbur Davis Melton and Eugene Meyer Fed Reserve chief among members.

Four hogs died, chickens saved. several barrels of cider and the press were ruined. Damage estimated at 3600 dollars as Hancock Fire Company responded to the alarm.
